The Village Transformer Network Vision
Here is what we hope to see, as the Village Transformer Network begins to achieve its most ambitious goals:
The end of each of these unnecessary evils, worldwide:
subsistence as we know it
food insecurity
unsustainable agriculture
There’s nothing wrong with a village eating what it grows, but there’s everything wrong with this being the reason it might end up with nothing to eat, and so:
Every subsistence village will be transformed into a healthy, sustainable, agriculturally productive and regenerative resource for its neighbours and the rest of the world
Every village struggling to survive on degraded and non-prime land will have made very substantial progress restoring the health of its soil and tackling their irrigation, shade and energy problems
The entire concept of uninvestable non-prime agricultural land will start to be seen as a fundamentally misguided dismissal of the potential of villagers to transform their seemingly intractably unproductive terrain without needing massive and uneconomical external inputs, simply by working with their neighbours in a systematic way
